The 6th Annual Humantech Find It – Fix It Challenge was intended to recognize and reward the implementation of creative, sustainable, and high-impact solutions that address ergonomic issues in the workplace. This contest was open to all Humantech clients, past  or present, and ran from June 28th, 2012 to September 16th, 2012.

This contest was derived from Humantech RAPID™ Team Events, which are based on the concept of making quick, simple, visible changes to improve ergonomic issues in the workplace. Using the vast number of improvements typically identified and implemented during these types of events, several companies have successfully raised ergonomic awareness within their facilities.

Pedestal Weld Station

Before

Welding vertical gussets and top plate to a pedestal shell took approximately 10 minutes. Workers complained of contact stress to the legs and hot temperatures.

After

Newly-fabricated welding table holds the pedestal in an upright position. The pedestal was also re-designed so that the veritcal gusset could be welded from the outside. This fix resulted in a cycle time reduction of 20 minutes and eliminated contact stress.
