Principal Bios

M. Franz Schneider, Chief Executive Officer B.S., M.S., DSL, CPE Franz Schneider is an internationally recognized expert in human performance who has been a consultant and ergonomics engineer with Humantech, Inc. since 1979. Active in the field of applied ergonomics and engineering for over two decades, his experience ranges from the development of training and OSHA compliance programs to total ergonomics program management. Franz has two bachelor of science degrees from State University of New York, in physiology and systems engineering. He obtained a master of science degree in ergonomics from the University of Guelph in Canada. He is a member of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society and the American Society of Safety Engineers.

Jim Good, President B.A. Jim Good has over twenty-five years of experience in manufacturing management, business development, and industrial design. A graduate of the University of Toronto, Jim has held leadership roles in a variety of businesses including Kates Peat Marwick, Kinetics, and EH Design Group, Inc. Jim is also a founding partner of ECS, Inc., a procurement management software company specializing in complex procurements for the GSA, Department of Defense, and other Federal Government agencies.

Josh Kerst, Vice President B.S., CPE, CIE Josh Kerst has served as lead project consultant for over 1500 ergonomic design reviews and has provided over 500 training classes in ergonomics. He obtained a bachelor of science degree in industrial and operations engineering from the University of Michigan. Prior to joining Humantech, he was a research scientist with the University of Michigan Transportation Research Institute. Josh has received recognition as a Board Certified Professional Ergonomist. He is a member of the Human Factors Association of Canada and serves on the ANSI Z.245-4 ergonomics committee for solid waste handling.

Walt Rostykus, Vice President B.S., MSPH, CIH, CSP, CPE Walt Rostykus has provided technical and program management services, conducted program audits, and carried out compliance reviews and process evaluations for corporate ergonomics programs. Prior to joining Humantech, Walt held several leadership positions in Environment, Health, and Safety at Agilent Technologies, Hewlett-Packard, and Compaq Computers. Walt received a bachelor of science degree from Washington State University and a master of science degree in public health from the University of Washington. Walt has received recognition as a Board Certified Professional Ergonomist, Certified Safety Professional, and Certified Industrial Hygienist, and has served as Environmental Management System Lead Auditor (EMS-LA) for ISO 14001.

James Mallon, Vice President B.Sc., M.Sc., MBA, CPE James Mallon has client management experience in numerous industries including automotive, aerospace, plastics, technology, and food and beverage. James received his bachelor of science degree in Kinesiology and master of science degree from Dalhousie University in Halifax. He also completed a master of business administration degree at the Richard Ivey School of Business, University of Western Ontario, London, Canada. James is a member of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society, and has received recognition as a board certified ergonomist.

Simone DeSousa, Director of Design B.S. Simone DeSousa is the Design Director for Humantech. She leads a group of three design professionals, delivering high-quality design ranging from technical illustrations to custom training materials and Web site design. A native of Brazil, Simone received her bachelor of science degree in architecture and urbanism from the University of Brasilia. In addition, she expanded her education to a specialization in computer graphics at the University of Michigan.
