As a follow-up to the Starbucks post from last week ("Leaning out the Latte"), Mark Graban provides an interesting perspective about implementing lean manufacturing principles in some non-automotive environments (particularly healthcare).
The fundamental message in the post is that lean success isn't guaranteed — it requires hard work and creativity to figure out how the principles will work in your setting. Another take away message for me, ahead of the hard work line, was when he stated:
“Lean doesn’t succeed or fail… Lean is just a set of principles. What succeeds or fails is the organization or the leaders who try.”
It’s an interesting read that we wanted to share. Make sure you check out the link on Dr. Sami Bahra, "The World's First Lean Dentist".
