ASSE Launches Prevention Through Design Standard Initiative
One of the best ways to prevent and control workplace incidents is to "design out" or minimize hazards and risks early in the design process.
A growing number of business leaders are recognizing Prevention through Design (PtD) as a cost-effective means to enhance occupational safety and health. Many U.S. companies openly support PtD concepts and have developed management practices to implement them.
News that the American Society of Safety Engineers recently launched an initiative to develop the "Prevention Through Design (PTD): Guidelines for Addressing Occupational Risks in Design and Redesign Processes" as a standard is good news that we can heartily endorse.
