If you are still looking for good workplace improvements to submit to our Find It – Fix It Challenge™, check out Timken’s Assembly Roll Cart submitted last year. Their cart was modified to support all five sizes of plastic rolls in a vertical position. Previously, the rolls were stored under a pack table. Each time an associate had to pack a product, he/she would bend over, select the appropriate size of plastic sheet, and install the roll under a pack table to tear off the section required. Now, all sizes of plastic are stored upright for easy access!
Can you imagine lifting or lowering a cylinder weighing between 153 and 305 pounds? Team members at Terex’s Watertown, SD plant had to, prior to building an electric lifting device to handle such heavy items. Check out this picture of the improvement that was submitted in the 2012 Find It – Fix It Challenge.
The deadline for this year’s contest will be here before you know it. Visit our Find It – Fix It Challenge web page for more details on how to enter including a short video that highlights previous winning entries.
