Update from the SEMAC Conference
By Claudia Escobar, CPE
For the first time, Humantech participated at the 13th SEMAC International Conference, held in Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico. SEMAC (Sociedad de Ergonomistas de Mexico A.C.) is the national society for ergonomist in Mexico, founded 20 years ago. I had the fortune to represent Humantech with my presentation, “The 10 Commandments of Ergonomics in Design”, and to attend many other sessions from ergonomists from the U.S., Colombia and Mexico. It was such a great experience to learn companies in Latin America are using ergonomics as an effective tool to increase the efficiency of their production and distribution processes, and universities in our neighbor countries are actively promoting and supporting ergonomics world class level research in the field. As a new member of SEMAC, I am more than proud to say ergonomics has strongly become a competitive advantage among Latin American nations.
If you want to share your experience while attending this or any other Latin American ergonomics and safety conference, or have had the fortune to work in any Latin American country, I would love to hear your thoughts.
